MAY IS NATIONAL FOSTER CARE MONTH AND AAPI HERITAGE MONTH

May is National Foster Care Month and to recognize this important audience, the Chancellor’s Office Foster and Kinship Care Education and NextUp programs invite you to an upcoming webinar.

This webinar will provide resource parents and ذكذكتسئµ community college students with foster care experience an opportunity to hear from our special guest, Dr. Danisha Keating.

Dr. Keating is passionate about education and helping others achieve post educational success. As a former foster youth, Dr. Keating understands the importance of furthering her education and building a network of people around her. Since 2009, she has helped students understand the value of education and strives to define what success means individually. Dr. Keating created the concept of "From Foster to _____" to encourage foster youth to strive for their dreams and goals. She reminds foster youth of the importance of finding something they are passionate about and giving it all they can.

In this webinar, Dr. Keating will share her foster care journey, challenges, successes and why she believes that education goes far beyond a degree. As a professional business consultant, coach, CEO, National Keynote Speaker and National-Selling Author of “From Foster to PhD: Letters from a Suitcase," Dr. Keating believes in sharing her knowledge with others to help them grow.

Chancellor’s Office Releases Report on Student Engagement, Enrollment and Success

The ذكذكتسئµ Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office is pleased to share a valuable publication developed by the Chancellor’s Student Engagement, Enrollment and Success CEO Roundtable, which has been working over the past several months to identify enrollment trends, opportunities and promising best practices.

The report, Top 10 Strategies to Better Serve ذكذكتسئµns: High-impact Practices to Bring Back Underrepresented Students to ذكذكتسئµ’s Community Colleges summarizes 10 approaches to engaging and re-engaging with students to improve outcomes and enrollment as we continue to innovate in the post pandemic era. The CEO roundtable worked to understand how local models to re-engage and support the success of our students are being integrated into the fabric of institutions.

Such strategies have allowed our system to turn the tide on enrollment with an intentional focus on persistence and equitable success. As the important work to reengage ذكذكتسئµns and connect them to the life-changing opportunities that exist at our communities’ colleges continues, we hope this compilation of strategies will support your local efforts.
