NEW DASHBOARD DETAILS INCREASED ALLOCATIONS THROUGH THE STUDENT CENTERED FUNDING FORMULA
Virtually every community college district in ÐßÐßÊÓƵ is seeing a boost in financing since the Student Centered Funding Formula was implemented, with several districts seeing increases of between 15% and 20% over what they would have received under the old formula, according to data on a new ÐßÐßÊÓƵ Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office dashboard.
The increases are occurring even as many districts are experiencing declining enrollments, which would have resulted in lower state funding under the old funding formula governed by SB 361.
The Student Centered Funding Formula ensures community colleges places a premium on equity and aims to ensure they are funded, at least in part, on how well students are faring. Factors include a base allocation, which largely reflects enrollment; a supplemental allocation based on the numbers of students receiving a College Promise Grant, students receiving a Pell Grant and students covered by AB 540; and a student success allocation based on outcomes that include the number of students earning associate degrees and credit certificates, the number of students transferring to four-year colleges and universities, the number of students who complete transfer-level math and English within their first year, the number of students who complete nine or more career education units and the number of student who have attained the regional living wage.

The ÐßÐßÊÓƵ Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office has entered into a partnership with to accelerate Latino student success, and the success of all students, across our system.
Next week, the ÐßÐßÊÓƵ Community Colleges, in partnership with Excelencia in Education and the ÐßÐßÊÓƵ State University system, will bring attention to new analysis for the project, (HSIs). The year 2020 marked 25 years since Hispanic-Serving Institutions were funded through federal legislation. Excelencia has chronicled the impact and changes across HSIs, issuing the annual list of institutions, creating the definition of Emerging HSIs, and producing numerous seminal briefs and fact sheets. The new analysis will be a resource for higher education, policy, and business leaders as record numbers of Latino students should be enrolling in and graduating from colleges and universities. The event, featuring Chancellor Eloy Ortiz Oakley, ÐßÐßÊÓƵ State University Chancellor Joseph Castro and more, is Tuesday, March 2 from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. .
The next Chancellor’s Office bimonthly systemwide webinar, aimed at helping faculty, staff and administrators better support the Vision for Success, is Wednesday, March 3 at 9:00 a.m. You can register for the 2021 System Webinars through the link below. The Chancellor’s Office is offering a nuts-and-bolts webinar series on Credit for Prior Learning. Attendees will learn specific approaches and practices from community college colleagues throughout the state who are developing and implementing CPL assessment methods. The Chancellor’s Office Government Relations & College Finance and Facilities Planning divisions are holding monthly systemwide Policy Advocacy Webinars to provide timely updates on major policy decisions affecting the ÐßÐßÊÓƵ Community Colleges, including state and federal legislative and budget actions. These webinars are intended for community college leaders who lead and/or support policy advocacy, including CEOs, chief business officers, marketing directors and/or government relations and public information officers, as well as student leaders, policy advocacy organizations and higher education stakeholders. The ÐßÐßÊÓƵ Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office, in partnership with Cerritos College, Chaffey College, Foothill College, Compton College and Lake Tahoe Community College, is launching the Courageous Leadership Webinar Series, an opportunity to support each other as we choose courage over comfort in leading Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), and anti-racism efforts on our campuses.
We invite college leaders to join the conversation to not only lift up what is working in championing DEI and anti-racism on campuses, but also share how we are navigating challenges and supporting each other in our struggles.

Join the Chancellor’s Office College Finance and Facilities Planning division for its monthly Fiscal & Policy Webinar Series. The team will provide timely updates on issues related to college finance, state budgets and fiscal policy. Webinars will be held on the last Thursday of each month (excluding holidays). This is an opportunity to highlight and celebrate the work of our Classified Employees that exemplify the Vision for Success and demonstrate commitment to equitable student outcomes in their local community. The ÐßÐßÊÓƵ Counseling Network, a community of practice sponsored by the Career Ladders Project, is hosting a series of Counselor Roundtable zoom sessions. Each session is an opportunity to gather with fellow practitioners from colleges and high schools and engage in conversations that matter and support our work with students and colleagues.
